POST 7 >> Changes to my Study Programme

Hi, I am currently studying plastic arts, at the beginning of the career the study plan was very exciting, in the first year we passed the basics in terms of technique, and from the second year one could specialize in an area, such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, textile, etc..

In my case, I wanted to specialize in engraving, which in simple words is a technique that is responsible for leaving a record in an endless number of surfaces, using a matrix, which can be wood, metal, stone, among others and get many impressions from the same drawing.

Honestly, I was very excited about this workshop because I found it very interesting and fun, but unfortunately the second semester of the second year of my career, the university had a strike for about two months, if not more, and just when the strike ended, the social outbreak came, it was a lost semester.

After that came the pandemic that ruined the last two years of my career, it is frustrating because the university is not very committed to fill those empty years without content, it is disappointing.

If I start talking about infrastructure I must say that personally I have always found the art faculty ugly, from the first day, but beyond the aesthetics, the infrastructure is very bad, it is always raining, the roofs are very old and fragile

In conclusion, I must say that studying arts at the Universidad de Chile is becoming more frustrating every day and is not at all recommendable.
